For me, photography is about capturing a moment in time which allows the viewer to experience what I experienced: the sense of place, the mood, the emotions.
My main interests are street and landscape photography, but you’ll find a wide range of images from different genres in my travel gallery.
Street photos capture a unique moment in time like nothing else can. Shooting candid portraits of people in their natural surroundings, be that a bustling city thoroughfare or a quiet beach, is both uncomfortable and exhilarating. I love looking at street photos from around the world as much as I enjoy taking my own. They can be intimate or impersonal, funny or sad, peaceful or hectic, but their immediacy and the glimpse they give into other people’s worlds makes them fascinating.
Landscape photography is at the opposite end of the spectrum. It’s a slow, considered process. There’s nothing quite like sitting on top of a hill, waiting for the light to be just right, hoping you can do justice to a stunning vista or an intimate scene. It’s a peaceful, relaxing experience and the results can be spectacular or spectacularly disappointing. But when the choice of vantage point, the weather and the light all come together, the buzz of coming away with a beautiful image is every bit as exciting as capturing an engrossing street photo.
